Biography

Dr. Rebeca López-García is an independent consultant in Food safety, toxicology and regulations more than 15 years in the field. She has worked as a consultant with international agencies such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and universities such as the University of Arizona, Michigan State University and New Mexico State University. She has worked with companies in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and South East Asia. Since 2002 is a guest lecturer on Latin American Food Regulations for Michigan State University. Dr. López-García belongs to the scientific advisory board of several food and beverage companies. In 1998, she received a Ph.D., in Food Science and Toxicology from Louisiana State University. She holds a Certificate in International Food Law from Michigan State University. Rebeca is a Certified Quality Auditor from the American Society for Quality and Certified Food Scientist from the Institute of Food Technologists. She is an International HACCP Alliance certified instructor and participates as an instructor for the Better Process Control School.

Research Interest

Her work involves the implementation of food safety programs and international standards in multicultural environments, regulatory compliance for exporting companies and development of bilingual education programs and materials.
